As I walked under the bold archway painted with LATINAFest, I was immediately pulled into a living, breathing celebration. The sound of music, laughter, and animated conversation swirled through the air. Booths lined the walkway, bursting with color, culture, and community—each one telling a different story.
The highlight for me? It was not only the crafts or the food—it was also the people.
One booth drew me in with the smell of sizzling tacos and a warm smile that could light up the room. A sister duo served each taco with love and precision, telling their family’s story through flavor. Their food was a legacy, shared through generations with each bite.

Just a few steps away, I met a woman who helps young girls prepare for their quinceañeras. She spoke with such heart about the weight and meaning behind each dress—how every detail was chosen with care. It was more than a gown. It was a rite of passage, a chance to honor tradition while stepping into womanhood with confidence.
Another booth truly touched my heart. A mother and daughter team had built a business from something so personal. It started when their kids, raised in the U.S., began to lose touch with their roots. They created a space for families to reconnect—through art, candles, and handmade pottery. Their creations weren’t just beautiful. They served as bridges, linking generations and preserving cultural heritage, away from the risks frequently encountered in underserved communities.

Then came a story of true alchemy. A woman who had battled postpartum depression turned her pain into something powerful. She used poetry and meditation to not only heal herself—but to guide other women through their own darkness. Her voice was calm, centered, strong. She teaches that healing isn’t linear—it’s a practice. A daily choosing of joy, breath, and stillness.
She wasn’t alone. Nearby, two women shared their latest creation—Alchemy Release, a book born from quiet reflections, long meditations, and the power of words. Their work blends breathing exercises, poetry, and movement—an invitation for all of us to let go, to heal, to grow. “We all have to do something to cross to the next hoop,” one of them said. That line stuck with me.

And then, I tasted tradition in a whole new way.
At Orgullo Winery—the first Latina-owned wine tasting room near Santa Barbara—the mission wasn’t just to make wine. It was to make space. Each bottle told a story of culture, family, and pride. The tasting room was alive with vibrant art and warm welcomes. This wasn’t just wine—it was heritage poured into a glass. A quiet revolution in an industry that hasn’t always made room for Latino voices.
Finally, there was Majestic Tea. The owner described it as a journey back to nature. No additives. No shortcuts. Just tea—pure, healing, and full of intention. She spoke of tea as ceremony, as connection, as a daily ritual of wellness. Each blend was hand-crafted with care, reminding us that beauty often lies in simplicity.

What Ties These Stories Together?
Each of these businesses, each of these women, shared something in common: they’ve turned hardship into healing. They’ve used culture as a compass and heart as their guide. This LATINAFest wasn’t just a showcase of businesses—it was a vibrant, powerful tribute to what happens when passion meets purpose.

These are more than entrepreneurs—they’re legacy builders.
So I ask you:
What will you create?
How will you turn pain into purpose?
And what story will you leave behind?
